Looking for News

Since our primary blogger (T) couldn't attend Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries' rally, we're looking for comments/highlights from the evening. What was the turnout? What main concerns were expressed? Is any follow-up action planned?

Anonymous said...: Awesome turnout. Hakeem fired up the crowd by demanding all kinds of G train improvements from the MTA. He promised to pay for these improvements with a bake sale at the Classon Avenue stop. He's got my vote!; May 22, 2008 at 9:28 PM

What's a Street Transfer?

Street transfers are a great short-term measure to increase service options at subway stations that are proximate but lack physical connections. Street transfers allow subway riders to exit one station, cross the street, and enter another nearby station without paying a new fare.

A street transfer is currently available at the F line 63rd Street station to connect riders to the E/M/6 lines at 53rd Street in Manhattan. There are many possible transfer sites that could enhance rider's options, particularly in Brooklyn. Until an underground tunnel can physically link these lines, we think street transfers should immediately be provided to G line riders.

Great street transfers-to-be:
· Broadway station (G line) – Hewes Street station (J/M line)
· Hoyt-Schermerhorn station (A, C, G lines) – Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street station (2, 3, 4, 5, M, N, R, W, D, Q lines)
· Hoyt-Schermerhorn station (A, C, G lines) – Nevins Street station (2, 3, 4, 5, lines)
· Hoyt-Schermerhorn station (A, C, G lines) – Hoyt Street station (2, 3 lines)
· Fulton Street station (G line) – Lafayette Avenue (A, C lines)
· Fulton Street station (G line) – Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street station (2, 3, 4, 5, M, N, R, W, D, Q lines)
